Inauguration of the “Vaccines Injecting Hope” Exhibition at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai

The International Travelling Exhibition “Vaccines Injecting Hope” was inaugurated at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai by Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chancellor, Homi Bhabha National Institute, Chairman, Rajiv Gandhi Science & Technology Commission, Former Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission; in the august presence of Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, Director, Dept. of General Surgery and Minimal Access Surgical Sciences, Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital, Prof. Emeritus, B.Y.L Nair Hospital; Ms. Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, British High Commission, New Delhi; Ms. Helen Jones, Director of Global Engagement, Science Museum, London; Ms. Philomena Gibbons, Associate Director, Transition & Legacy, Wellcome Trust, London; Shri Samarendra Kumar, DDG, NCSM and other distinguished guests, on February 10, 2024.

Conceptualized by National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) in collaboration with Science Museum Group, London, and supported by Wellcome, UK, ICMR, British Council India, and other Indian research organizations, the exhibition showcases the global response to COVID-19 through seven sections: The Arrival of New Virus, Designing a New Vaccine, Trials, Results and Approvals, Scaling Up and Mass Production, Vaccine Rollout, and Living with COVID. The exhibition also features "Through The Lens," a commissioned artwork by British Council, created by Indian sculptor Sushank Kumar and London-based playwright Nigel Townsend, exploring our historical and contemporary relationship with vaccination in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The exhibition was initially inaugurated at the National Science Centre, Delhi, on November 15, 2022 and was on display there till June 18, 2023.  The exhibition was further inaugurated at Raman Science Centre & Planetarium, Nagpur on August 5, 2023, and was on display there till December 31, 2023.
