National Council of Science Museums (NCSM) was registered as a society on April 4, 1978. Two Science Museums namely Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), Kolkata and Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Banglore and developing Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai were brought under the control of NCSM.
