Inauguration of Science City Guwahati

The first phase of Science City, Guwahati was inaugurated by Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam,on March 10, 2026. The ceremony was also graced by Shri Keshab Mahanta, Hon'ble Minister for Science & Technology,Government of Assam.

Developed under the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS), this ambitious project was conceptualized, designed, and built by the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. Spread across 82 acres, the Science City aims to make science learning exciting and inspire young minds through hands-on engagement.

The first phase features two main building blocks. The Eureka Building houses an interactive Eureka Gallery, a VR Theatre, and a Digital Adventure Gallery. The Space Odyssey Building includes an Astronomy Gallery, a Knowledge on Sphere (KoS) installation, and a panel exhibition titled "Carved in Time: The Ascent of Astronomy." A major highlight is the Omni Theatre, which showcases a 360-degree immersive film, Lion of Saraighat – Veer Lachit Barphukan.
