Birla Industrial & Technological Museum observed World Water Day on March 22, 2014 by organizing various programmes for general public and students in particular. The various events organized during the day were Sit & Draw Competition, Water Sample Testing, Open House Quiz and Puppet Show on Water crisis.
World Water Day was first formally proposed in 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Observance began March 22 in 1993 and has grown significantly ever since for making the general public aware of the importance of clean water and to focus public attention on sustainable aquatic habitats.
872 students from 8 schools (Indira Academy, Silver Point School, Mahadevi Birla World Academy, Baranagore Ramkrishna Mission Ashrama H.S. School, Sri Audobindo Institute, Behala Kishore Bharati Girl’s High School, Agrasen Balika Vidyalay, Jahar Nandi Vidya Pith) participated.
