A sky observation program was organised by Regional Science Centre (RSC), Calicut for District Jail inmates on 2nd October 2015. The event was inaugurated by Shri M. K. Muneer, Hon'ble Minister of Social Justice & Panchayat, Govt. of Kerala in the presence of Shri N. Prasanth, District Collector (Kozhikode); Shri R. L. Baiju, Sub - Judge and Shri Ajay Kumar, District Jail Superintendent. 360 Inmates of the district jail participated and appreciated the event. The jail authorities expressed their desire to organise similar event in future.

As a part of the function, a sculpture of 'Ashok Stambh' which was recreated by one of the jail inmates, was also inaugurated by the Hon'ble Minister.
