Regional Science Centre, Guwahati celebrated the World Health Day on 7th April, 2015 in its’ premises with varieties of participatory activities involving school children. The World Health Day is celebrated across the world every year on 7th of April under the leadership of World Health Organization to draw the mass people attention towards the importance of global health. The topic for the World Health Day 2015 is ‘Food Safety’.
The following programs were conducted at the Centre on this special occasion:
In the morning, an Art Competition was conducted for schools students in three different groups. Thereafter, a Popular Talk on Food & Health was delivered by Dr. Shashanka Shekhar Chakraborty, Asst. Prof, Department of Community Medicine, Gauhati Medical College. It was followed by an Extempore Speech Competition for students of higher classes conducted by Dr. Pahari Gogoi, Lecturer of Gauhati Medical College. Then, an Open House Quiz Competition on Food and Health was conducted by lecturer Dr. Jhankar Hazarika from the same college for students and teachers. The celebration programme ended with Prize distribution.
Many students with their teachers from different schools took part in the programmes conducted during the celebration.
