A popular science lecture on “Superbugs & Antibiotics: The present & future” was organised at the Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai on January 23, 2020. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Rahul Tambe, Senior Consultant Internal Medicine Nanavati Supern specialty Hospital, Mumbai. In his lecture, he talked about various infectious diseases that account for the loss of lives in India and how to stop the misuse of antibiotics for a safer future generation. In the developing world like India infectious diseases account for a large amount of loss of lives. We are losing a battle against the microorganisms (bugs) which are fast evolving, making them resistant to most antibiotics. The newer antibiotics are few and expensive. Today we need to take steps to prevent misuse of antibiotics for a safer future generation. Let us all understand and join in this endeavour.
