Today, 2nd May, 2022 the centenary exhibition, “Satyajit Ray: The Poet of Cinema”, has been inaugurated by another film legend Shyam Benegal in the National Museum of Indian Cinema, Films Division, Pedar Road, Mumbai.
The exhibition is not just a laudatory eulogy but a spectacle to see more clearly why he is, by any reckoning, one of the world's greatest artists. To comprehend the versatility of this great auteur, the exhibition presents his filmography, artworks, preparatory sketches, movie analysis, historical interviews, topical documentaries, and thematic analysis of his works. Hallmark of this exhibition is technology mediated content presentation through interactive multimedia, archival objects, graphic panels and browsable film clippings. One particular show stealer is a real-life hyper-realistic statue of Ray looking intensely to the world standing tall behind his camera. The exhibition is likely to rediscover Ray, the man and the polymath, and leave a long lasting impression on the minds of the people. This 300 sq. meter exhibition presented by Films Division, Ministry of I and B, Govt. of India has been ideated and developed by National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
