World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is an International Robotics championship for school and college students to inculcate interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics). It is a celebration for science, Technology & Education which brings together the young people from all over the world to showcase their creativity and problem solving skills through challenging and educational robotics competitions. WRO is held in over 55 countries around the world and more than 21000 teams participate worldwide.

WRO 2016 International championship is being hosted in India for the first time this year. More than 400 teams, 2000 participants from 55 countries including India are expected to participate. This will be preceded with a grand National Championship and several Regional Qualifying Championships across India.

India STEM Foundation (ISF)

NCSM, the largest network of Science Centres/Museums in the world is engaged in Communicating Science through its network of Science Centres/Museums spread across India. NCSM also runs a fleet of 24 Mobile Science Exhibition buses to take science in rural areas. A science communication journal ‘Propagation’ is also published.

India STEM Foundation is engaged in generating interest among students towards computer science, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (CS-STEM) through the innovative use of Robotics Learning Platforms and other research based hands-on learning tools.


The theme for WRO 2016 is ‘Rap the Scrap’ (Robots for Reducing, Managing and Recycling waste) an issue that is of great importance not just to our society but to the entire nation as a whole. It resonates well with Swachch Bharat Abhiyan.
